WithEase came out of a problem Mat kept running into. Through Elev (elev.co.nz), Mat builds websites and does marketing for tradies and small businesses right across New Zealand โ and the same thing came up again and again.
These are people who do genuinely great work. But getting paid for it is the painful bit. Finish the job, drive home, write up an invoice that night, email it off โ and then chase it. For weeks. A follow-up text here, an awkward phone call there, money sitting out there that you've already earned.
WithEase flips that around. Ask for payment the moment the job's done โ card or bank transfer, right there on the spot โ and there's nothing left to follow up on. No invoice to write when you get home. No chasing. Just paid.
Reviews became the natural companion. It's the same idea โ ask at the right moment โ pointed at a different goal: getting a Google review while the customer's still standing there happy, instead of hoping they remember next week.
Behind it are two mates. Mat and Lachlan both studied computer science โ Mat at Otago, with a good chunk of marketing alongside it; Lachlan in Wellington and then Auckland. They flatted together, stayed close, and now build WithEase across two time zones: Mat in Auckland, Lachlan out in Southeast Asia.
No big fintech backstory. Just two Kiwis who watched too many good small businesses wait to get paid, and decided to do something about it.
Computer science (Otago) and marketing. Runs Elev, building sites and marketing for NZ trades and small businesses โ where the idea for WithEase started.
Computer science, studied in Wellington and Auckland. Mat's old flatmate, now building WithEase from the other side of the time zone.
